Pre School Parents Health and Safety Advice

GENERAL

  • All shoes and bags to be left in the waiting room, only valuables to be brought into the gym
  • Keep fire exits clear
  • Sit and listen to all instructions during coach explanation time
  • Please use child’s name frequently to help members learn names
  • Please refrain from bringing siblings where possible. If siblings are in attendance please keep them to the side of the gym with activities provided by parent to kep them occupied. Please note additional siblings are not allowed to join in or use equipment due to insurance reasons.

DRESS

  • Please dress appropriately, no dresses etc
  • Please limit jewellery

GENERAL HAZARDS

  • Be aware of trip hazards; cones, hand equipment etc
  • Be aware of uneven surfaces
  • Please discourage uncontrolled running
  • Sitting in “W” position is detrimental for knee and hip development

EQUIPMENT SAFETY

Trampette/vault

  • One at a time
  • No adults
  • Short go’s
  • Encourage to be central

Jumping/landing

  • Always feet first
  • DO not hold arms/wrists

Bars/rings/trapeze

  • Max 10 sec goes
  • Reach with straight arms
  • Support landing by holding stomach and back to ensure landing on feet

Beam/climbing

  • Support at hips never holding wrists or hands
  • Support landing by holding stomach and back to ensure landing on feet

STRINGS AND BOWS

  • Only 1 grown up per child
  • Grown ups must actively participate and supervise their child at all times
  • Grown ups are responsible for their own child’s safety

Failure to follow health and safety advice and/or breaches of other club policies will result in disciplinary action and may lead to suspension or exclusion from the club.
